The Scholarship Fund is dedicated to the women and men who have given of their time, energy and financial resources to establish the Group Health Centre, the initial employees of the Association, and the founding members of the Algoma District Medical Group.

The Group Health Centre was conceived in 1957 when local steelworkers determined the need for a new system for the provision of health care in Sault Ste. Marie.

The Sault Ste. Marie & District Group Health Association was incorporated in June 1962. The Algoma District Medical Group was organized in 1963. The Group Health Centre is the health care program of the Sault Ste. Marie and District Group Health Association and the Algoma District Medical Group.
