Kids Camp Huronda

Camp Huronda is a part of a nation-wide network of camping services offered by the Canadian Diabetes Association since 1954 to children and youth with diabetes.

Camp Huronda is located on a beautifully wooded peninsula on Lake Waseosa near Huntsville, Ontario. This superb 110-acre setting offers permanent camp facilities for children with Type 1 diabetes. The camp offers four two-week sessions in July and August for 8–15 year olds, as well as two one-week sessions for 8-10 year olds. Carefully planned day and evening programs provide a summer adventure of fun, activities, new skills and health care.

Staff: Dr. Kusiel Perlman from the Hospital for Sick Children coordinates the staff and on-site physicians. He is a childhood diabetes specialists with several years of experience at Camp Huronda. An experienced Certified Diabetes Educator, Diabetes Nurse and a Nursing Team ensure supervision of each camper’s insulin injections and testing procedures. A Registered Dietitian coordinates individual diabetes meal planning for the campers. Excellent meals and snacks are prepared in the modern kitchen and enjoyed by the campers and staff in the dining hall.
