"Also, our particular group has been together as employees for many years. The camaraderie and joy we give one another is too precious to lose!" - quotes from a long time GHC Trust Fund volunteer.
Volunteers are a special group of people and the heartbeat of the Group Health Centre!
They give their valuable time to assist our Trust Fund and its many events including the Annual Group Health Centre Pharmacy Charity Golf Classic, Big Wish Lottery and selling Nevada tickets, to name some of the tasks.
Community members as well as 'GHC retirees,' many of them who were long-service staff members, volunteer their time with the Trust Fund. Some of them are part of the 'Tuesday Group' and host Our Lotto (lottery), and perform office tasks such as assisting with large mail-outs and data entry.
Volunteers give of their time to provide reception duties essential in operating the GHC/Algoma Health Unit's Annual Flu Clinic from October to January. One year, this incredible group of people volunteered over 1,300 hours of their valuable time!
Many of our dedicated volunteers have been recognized by the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration with provincial pins as part of Ontario Volunteer Service awards paying tribute to those with 5 year, 10 year and other 5 year intervals of continuous service.
